Patriots Missing Key Players Against Raiders

The New England Patriots will face the Las Vegas Raiders without several key players this Sunday. Coach Mike Vrabel confirmed that starters Christian Gonzalez and Carlton Davis III, both cornerbacks, will not play. Gonzalez is sidelined with a shoulder injury from a Week 3 game, while Davis is out due to a neck injury. The team will also miss backup cornerbacks Karon Prunty and Channing Canada, fullback Reggie Gilliam, and veteran receiver Mack Hollins.

With the absence of their starting cornerbacks, the Patriots are adjusting their defensive strategy. Slot corner Marcus Jones and third-year player Charles Woods are expected to take on more significant roles outside their usual positions. Vrabel has implied that the adjustments include plans for handling Raiders’ tight end Brock Bowers, who poses a unique challenge. Defensive coordinator Zak Kuhr praised Kindle Vildor, elevated from the practice squad, for his professionalism and readiness to step in.

As they prepare for Sunday’s game, the Patriots are also dealing with limited participation from running back Rhamondre Stevenson, though he assures he’s prepared to play. The team anticipates making roster moves by Saturday’s deadline, including the activation of special teams player Brenden Schooler.
